MAKING A REFERRAL

YouthLink and YouthReach are mental health services that offer counselling and support. The services operate within business hours (8.30-4.30) Monday to Friday and are not generally able to provide urgent assessment.

Whilst the services will assist young people who engage with practical issues such as accommodation, finances etc, referrals would not be accepted where these are the only presenting concerns. However in this instance the duty officer is available to talk through alternative options.

Referrals to the service should be discussed with the Duty Officer who is available Monday to Friday between 12.30 and 4.30 pm. The combined duty number is 1300 362 569

The following referral criteria will be considered by when deciding whether to accept a referral.

If the young person does not meet criteria or it is considered that an alternative service is more appropriate, the Duty Officer will provide contact details of alternatives.

If the young person appears to meet the criteria, the referral will be presented at the next scheduled allocation meeting (Tuesday and Thursday). If the referral meets the criteria for services, the young person will be allocated a worker as soon as possible.
